Melting Pot Monday: Guess what I learned?

When I moved to France I never thought I'd learn how to do the following:

1) Cut/lay tile
2) Put up drywall
or
3) Lay down a wood floor

But that's what the Frog and I have been doing for the past two weeks from nine in the morning until seven every night, preparing a room for my parents arrival this Friday. That's right. We're doing all the work ourselves. Not one contractor in sight. My back hurts five million ways. My legs ache. My head hurts. But it's worth it...

(I think. What can I say? Try building a room with your partner. At least we haven't killed one another yet---only maimed.)

BEFORE:

Putting up drywall! Not fun! Where's the floor?

Nice shower!

AFTER:

The floor is in! The ceiling is up! The walls are painted!
That's a Japanese panel hanging. It's much prettier in person.

The shower. Almost done!

I'm going to take a break starting...today. Like the rest of France, once this room is done, I'm going on vacation– back to this blog come September. Enjoy the rest of the summer everybody! I'll be checking in on your blogs...

p.s. I'm really looking forward to reading Slide by Jill Hathaway (once it comes in the mail!!), String Bridge by Jessica Bell, and Watching Willow Watts by Talli Roland! Good times!
