Springtime in France...

This past Sunday the Frog, the tadpoles and I drove one hour North East of Toulouse to visit the beautiful and historic village of Albi. Thankfully, the weather was agreeable – the rain held off – and it was neither too hot, nor too cold. Yep, this faux Goldilocks thought the weather was just right.

After visiting the Cathédrale Sainte-Cécile d'Albi...

and the Musée Toulouse-Lautrec, where we saw famed pieces like this,

we decided to stroll around the village/town as it was such a lovely day for exploring.

And then we ran into them...

Enlarge this photo! Take a look at the people in the background...

Apparently the village of Albi was celebrating their version of Mardi Gras – a random "something to do" on an ordinary spring day. Yes, the disco beats were pumping and it was a full on parade. A very weird parade. At first I was skeptical, thinking "holy moly, what is up with these crazy French?" I mean, a rollerskating boogie Mardi Gras parade? What's up with that?

And then these beautiful creatures rounded the corner...

WHOA! Fairy-like ladies! On stilts! With a bubble machine! HOW FREAKING COOL!!!

What about you? When is the last time you ran into something totally unexpected?

And while life is certainly good for some people, there are hardships for others. And one of our blogging friends is trying to do something about it. Rachel Harrie over at Rachel Writes has started a new blog for Japan: Write Hope. Please click over and see what she's doing.

Happy Wednesday and Gros Bisous.
