Monday Melting Pot: These Are a Few of My Favorite Things

Sara at Sara in Le Petite Village has asked me about some of my favorite things. And Kelly Dexter awarded me with the Stylish Blogger. I'm going to kill two birds with one stone and combine the two. (My blog, my rules)

Since raindrops on roses don't really do it for me...

My Five Current Loves:

My New Family: I am so lucky I get along so well with my husband's children. From Just Dance 2 dance offs to our conversations at dinner, I'm blessed. Oh yeah! I also love my husband...

Writing:
Now that my memoir is finished I'm looking to start my next project. I have a few ideas simmering – one of which is based on "real life," but I'd take creative license with.

Reading: NomNomNom. I consume books. Considering I LOVE writing, this should come as no surprise. Not a genre snob, I read everything. For example, I just finished reading The Duff by Kody Keplinger (YA) and The Girl who Kicked the Hornets Nest by Steig Larrsson. Next on my list? The Art of Racing in the Rain (written in the POV a dog) and Wuthering Heights. I'm also going to try reading Madame Bovary. In French. (We'll see how long that takes...)

Travel:
In addition to being a self professed princess, I am also a travel junkie. There is so much of the world I want to see – from the exotic (the Maldives) to the historical (Petra)

My Gadgets: My ereader, my iTouch, and my MacBook Pro.

Five Questions:

favorite makeup brand?
I'm really into the MAC lipgloss – Cyndi, named after Cindy Lauper. It's a perfect shade of rosy red, not too bright, not too dark. I also love Bobbi Brown's Shimmer Brick. I really don't stick with one brand. I have everything from generic $1.00 products to Chanel.

favorite clothing brand?
H&M for seasonal and BCBG for those special pieces. If I had an unlimited budget, I'd throw in some Armani (not AX) and Chanel.

indispensable makeup product?
Foundation and mascara.

What country would you like to live in and why?
Well, France is new to me, and I'm still discovering everything it has to offer, so I think I'll put wanderlust off to the side and stay put for a while. Now, if the question is where would I want a second home, I'd have to say Thailand, somewhere near the beaches. I love the food, I love the culture, and I love the people.

What is the last concert you went to?
Hmm. I don't go to many concerts. (Kelly is going to haze me) Last year The Frog and I went to see a Bach performance here in Toulouse. Unfortunately, we ate salmon (the one cooked fish I HATE) before leaving. Unfortunately, I was the one who prepared it. Needless to say, the oil from the fish had soaked into my hands and no matter how many times I washed I couldn't get rid of the smell. Every time I clapped a whiff of putrid salmon wafted up to my nose. Ugh.

Without further ado, I'm passing the Stylish Blogger Award on to the Enigmatic Masked Blogger, Connie, Jen at Unedited, Magan, Angela Felstadt, and Melissa at Through the Looking Glass. Grab your Stylish Blogger Award and tell us about SEVEN (not five) of your favorite things! And come up with two more questions!

I hope everybody had a fantastic weekend!

Gros bisous!

Sam

P.S. Sara at Le Petit Village is having a contest. Follow her blog and "like" her page and you'll win homemade French candles. PLUS we may be able to talk her into auctioning off Honey Jr, the hot young French guy who made the candles. (He'd be perfect for my sister...) Check it out. Get some honey now!
